PROGRAM SCHEDULE The program schedule for the 37-week dietetic internship program starts in August with orientation and ends in May with graduation. The schedule allows for you to start in either your clinical, community, or management rotation, based on the preference of your preceptors. You are expected to work the hours of your preceptor, typically a minimum of 40 hours per week. All hours, rotations, and assignments must be completed in order to receive your verification statement. A sample schedule can be viewed by clicking on Program Schedule. PROGRAM OUTCOMES The internship’s mission is “to deliver experiences which develop entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists who enrich and nourish lives.” Goals and objectives have been developed to support this mission. Program outcomes are available upon request. RDN CAREER PATHWAY Our dietetic internship is part of your route to meeting the eligibility requirements for the Registration Exam for Dietitians set by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). After successful completion of a Didactic Program in Dietetics and receipt of your baccalaureate degree, your next step will be to complete the practice and learning experiences associated with a dietetic internship. All program graduates will receive a certificate and verification statement once competencies have been fulfilled, indicating eligibility to sit for the RD Exam. The dietetic internship will also meet the requirements for state licensure or certification mandatory for practice in most states. Effective January 1, 2024, CDR will require a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam. Admission Criteria and Program Expenses -- Planning for a Dietetic Internship includes understanding the program’s core admission requirements and expenses. You must meet all admission requirements to be eligible for the program. Once admitted into the program, expenses include program fees, cost of living, and technological requirements, such as a laptop computer, high speed internet, scanner, webcam, and microphone, among others. Download PDF Location Selection -- The Aramark Dietetic Internship program continues to expand the number of locations available for you to select as an internship home. Rotation sites and preceptors are selected in geographical locations across the country. The Location Selection Sheet allows you to select desired geographic areas. This document must be attached to your application in DICAS. You can apply to the program with one application to Aramark, but rank into D&D all the preselected hospital locations where you are able to complete a internship. Download Location Selection Document Masters Degree Available -- The dietetic internship has a partnership with The University of Alabama to provide you with the opportunity to enroll in a fully online, 30 credit-hour Master of Science program in Human Nutrition. The program is creatively designed to coordinate with the internship rotations. Courses provide foundation knowledge prior to rotations and other courses align with internship assignments. Your acceptance into the program occurs after computer match. Out of state tuition rates are waived. Federal financial aid is available only to interns accepted into the graduate program to cover graduate tuition and other expenses.
